Humanitarian Aid

text

In Peru, the extremely poor neighborhoods in which Coprodeli works closely with are located in the urban-marginalized areas of the Callao, Lima, Ica, San Martin and Apurímac Regions (States). Our work of providing aid will always be carried within the radius of the intervention areas mentioned above.

Understanding Child Sponsorships

When you become a child's sponsor, you become their stable, unwavering source of hope and opportunity. Children in Coprodeli's Padrino Child Sponsorship Program are those facing significant challenges, often stemming from rough home lives and adverse conditions, including domestic, sexual, or psychological abuse, unstable living situations, and extreme poverty.

We provide humanitarian, food and emergency aid to populations in extreme poverty and to vulnerable or socially excluded groups. We also provide emergency help when disasters occur caused by nature or man. Humanitarian Aid is the support for the other Coprodeli Programs.

How this program works? Our local volunteers in those countries have been previously contact by Coprodeli in Peru with their needs. Their mission is to fundraise and take in donations from local donors. The collection of products is done through campaigns; in schools, groups, communities, etc. or by the people who usually collaborate with Coprodeli by making donations.

The products are received at our warehouse, where they are classified and placed in properly labeled boxes for subsequent shipment. We secure a 40 ft. container which is loaded at the same warehouse and usually takes 1 month to arrive in Peru by sea and allows Coprodeli to ship a capacity of 20,000 to 30,000 kilos in products.

When the container arrives at our general warehouse in Peru, local Humanitarian Aid volunteers begin the process of distributing the products to the various Social Service Centers.

Taking into account the diversity of climates where Coprodeli intervenes, items are distributed considering what is most appropriate for each Region: clothing, footwear, household items, beds, bedding, equipment for people with disabilities; likewise, for furniture and books which we pass along to our schools.

Another important component of Food Aid is the partnerships Coprodeli's been able to secure with important supermarket chains to collect their daily surpluses and distribute them to the population in extreme poverty.

The same people that come to our centers to participate in self-help workshops and are learning about having a Life Project and make the At-risk Population program, those people are benefitted from this aid.

The final aspect of this program is Emergency Aid which activates upon extreme circumstances such as: Natural disasters, Riots, Internal conflicts or displacement issues or others along the same categories. Reinforcement comes from Coprodeli’s Population at Risk Program as well.

Coprodeli immediately goes to the affected area to identify unmet needs and provide them with the necessary support. Usually, it’s in lieu of donated clothing, shoes, food or survival kits. Donated foods are fresh and non-perishable, which is a great support and well received for by families. We have provided this aid for more than 40,000 families throughout Coprodeli’s trajectory.

Our most recent Emergency Aid, COVID-19. Coprodeli's Solidarity Soup Kitchens have fed more than 15,000 people.
