Habitat
The habitat program was created in order to provide a solution to the populations housing and basic sanitation problem.
In 1993, the Francisco Bolognesi shanty urban development didn’t have drinking water, the only water available was expensive or contaminated, triggering parasitic diseases. That is why, with the collaboration of Swiss private aid, a drinking water well and drains were built that supplied water for 10 years to the school and surrounding town.
The following year the shantytown of Gambetta suffered from a massive flooding and many were left homeless and displaces. Coprodeli helped 130 families relocate to the town of Ventanilla.
In the early 2000’s the land invasion of Pachacutec took place, Coprodeli was there for the start, helping to organize the population, collaborate with local officials to solve common everyday life issues and with the state seeking to accelerate the solution to the pressing problems of a “city” that was born from nothing on a costal desert sandy beach.
In 2007, COPRDELI was providing Humanitarian Aid assistance to shantytowns surrounding the city of Ica that were in need and lacking all kinds of aid when the 2007 Pisco city earthquake occurred. Taking aim front and center, we were able to install 5 temporary shelters. These were later transformed into Outreach Centers and finally became schools.
Keeping in spirit in which the program was created, the Habitat program evolved and took aim in proving solutions in the shortage of low-cost homes and in addition helping displaced residents from the earthquake. and this is how the program set out to housing developments.
In Cañete, Coprodeli acquired 11,000mt2 of land to build a school for 400 students and enable the land for 75 homes.
In Chincha, “Exalmar Corporation” donated 35,000mt2 in land and financed the electrification, running water and drainage system. On this land, Coprodeli in conjunction with a government housing project bond were able to build 205 2-story homes, ranging from 60 top 84 mts2 and built a school for over 800 students.
In Pisco, “Aceros Arequipa Corporation” (Steel company), donated 180,000mt2 in land. The electrification, running water and drainage system were carried out by Coprodeli and in conjunction with local government, financed the road pavement and sidewalks. In addition, Coprodeli build a school for over 800 children and church for the community of over 850 homes can attend.
